Chat, calls and notifications
Chat, calls and screen sharing, with consent-based recording, meeting transcripts and reviewed action items.
Chat
Channels and direct messages with rich formatting (bold, lists, links, code), replies, editing, deleting, reactions and forwarding to other chats. Delete for me removes a message only from your own view.
- Messages show sent, delivered and read ticks, and unread counts update live.
- Voice messages can be recorded and played back.
- Files can be attached. They are checked by type and content before they are accepted.
- Muted chats stay quiet.
Calls
One-to-one and group voice and video calls run between browsers and are encrypted. You can mute, switch the camera, choose devices and share your screen.
Notifications
Notifications arrive for messages, incoming calls, task updates and leave decisions. On Android they also arrive when the app is closed. The bell in the header lists recent notifications.
Recording and meeting notes
Supported browsers offer Record and, when configured and authorized, PIY Bot in an active call. The joined host or a joined manager can request recording, transcription, or both. Every joined participant must separately agree before capture starts. Declining blocks capture; withdrawing consent or a participant joining/leaving stops it. A persistent status appears for everyone.
Audio is mixed from consented participants. Video recordings include their cameras and shared screens; screen/system audio is not captured. Keep the recording tab visible. Backgrounding it stops and saves capture. Browser closure or an interrupted upload can leave a failed, incomplete capture. Pause/resume and server-side background recording are not supported.
PIY Bot processes short mixed-audio clips after capture stops. It requires an administrator-configured speech endpoint and model service. Clips have approximate timestamps; speakers are not identified. Notes can include discussion, decisions, risks, open questions and proposed actions. Incomplete or truncated inputs are labeled. AI outputs require review.
Open Meetings in the conversation header, or Open artifacts after capture, to review private recordings, transcripts and notes. You must have consented and still have access to the conversation. Preview/download URLs require authentication. Administrators configure retention; the default is 30 days.
Choose Review and create task to edit an action's description, assignee, due date, priority and optional project before submitting. No tasks are created automatically. Created tasks link back to their source meeting. Retry failed transcription or notes from the artifact workspace without duplicating a task. Stopping PIY Bot aborts processing and discards pending raw transcription clips; an independently saved recording remains until deletion or retention expiry.
Mentions and channel announcements
Type @ and choose a channel member to create a mention linked to that person. Recipients see a highlighted mention and a notification. In channels, @all mentions current active members other than the sender. Muted channels remain muted. A full-name mention typed manually can also be recognized when the name is unambiguous; email addresses and code examples are not alerts. Forwarding or editing a message does not send fresh mention notifications.
Use @all sparingly for messages relevant to everyone. Repeated channel-wide mentions are rate limited. Notifications appear in the bell and can open the conversation. Delivery and audio depend on the recipient's device and notification preferences.
The message action button sits inside each bubble. Its compact menu supports copying, replies, forwarding and permitted edit/delete actions. Opening history starts at the latest message; scrolling up preserves your reading position, and Jump to latest returns you to the bottom.
Custom application sounds
Administrators can upload and assign message, notification, incoming-call and outgoing-call sounds under Configuration, Sounds. Personal sound preferences continue to apply. Web and foreground app playback use those choices; native background alerts follow operating-system notification settings.
