Remote Access

Let a colleague see your screen for support, with your approval. Viewing only.

This area is only partly available. The page says what works today and what does not.

Remote Access lets another signed-in person see your screen while you stay in control.

How it works

  1. You open Remote Access and generate an access code and a separate password. They are shown once and expire after a few minutes.
  2. You give both to the person who will help, by a channel you trust.
  3. They enter them; you see a request and approve it.
  4. You choose a screen, window or tab to share. Both sides see a clear indicator while sharing.
  5. You can pause, resume or disconnect at any time, and so can the viewer.

Nothing is shared without your approval, and the connection is encrypted.

What it cannot do

  • No remote control. A web page cannot control another computer's mouse and keyboard, so the viewer cannot click or type on your machine. Controlling a computer would need a separate desktop program, which is not part of PIY Action today.
  • The viewer's pointer can be shown to you only if you allow it, and it is only visible on the shared screen while the PIY Action window is in front.
  • No clipboard, file transfer or audio.
